The Business Club of Jamia Millia Islamia orchestrated a two-day cultural fest on the 25th and 26th of February in the university premises, which were full to the gills with a lot of engaging events and activities. The first day eventuated with the inaugural ceremony with the recitation of verses of Quran. Proceeding further were the addressing speeches by Prof. Naved Iqbal, Dean- Students Welfare, Honourable Chief Guest Angad Singh Abrol and Dr. M.K. Nabi.
The Start-up Fest was lead off by a brief talk about the business club and its endeavours in the fields of marketing and entrepreneurship. Up next was the addressing speech by Chief Guest, who congratulated the students of the business club for organising the event successfully. He went on to discuss about efficient entrepreneurship and explained as to how the field gives one the joy of creating something of one’s own and is better than working aimlessly for someone else. Guest jury, Geetika Saigal, came up next, and spoke about the business sphere and evolution of the entrepreneur workforce. She also emphasised on the much needed blend of creativity in entrepreneurship.
The pre-lunch round consisted of the PUBG tournament organised at the Safdar Hashmi Amphitheatre, where Areeb Khan from JMI clinched the first position in solo category whereas Ayaan Siddiqui from P.G.D.A.V. College & Mohd. Hamdaan from Kirori Mal College bagged the prizein Duo Category, also Abhishek Negi’s Team was declared s the winner in the category, alongside there were various filler activities and talk sessions, which edged with the introduction of start-ups instituted by various youngsters. Post lunch was the presentation by numerous start-ups followed by the super creative & entertaining AD MAD competition at the M.A. Ansari Auditorium, where a Saree commercial & Teaser Woman won the heart of the judges. The first day of the fest concluded on a high note with some extravagant razzmatazz in the fountain-lawn.
The second & the final day began with an engaging interactive session with the British Council of India at the M.A. Ansari Auditorium which marked 70 years of British Council and highlighted its’ various programmes from British Council Library to MOOC improvement, followed by the much awaited Betfair: IPL Auction Bidding simulation at the M.A. Ansari Auditorium, which had a quiz round and the final auction round where Saad Ahmed Khan, Azharuddin & Dinesh Singh bagged the first position whereas Md. Rizwanur Rahman & Shadab Anwer received the second position.
Then came the test for all Harry Potter Aficionados, The Harry Potter Quiz where the participants paired in teams were given a set of questions, and the top eight teams made it to the next round where they were put forth with a bunch of unExpectro questions, and the final rapid fire decided the winners as Adyashree Bohra & Avi Sharma whereas Kashish Nishat & Ruman Rehan finished second in a close fight.
The two-day engagement came to an end with a valedictory session, where the business club expressed their Vote of Thanks and celebrated their successful organisation of the event.
Spark fest literally served as a spark in the festive season and seemed extremely promising until next year.
